KL, 14 Oct-The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), through its subsidiary CIDB Holdings Sdn. Bhd., has launched the CIDBH iENTRY System, an integrated platform designed to enhance the management of foreign workers in the construction industry.
Officiated by Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Public Works, the system ensures compliance with key laws governing the welfare and safety of skilled foreign workers, including the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520), the Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation, and Employee Facilities Act 1990 (Act 446), and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
The CIDBH iENTRY System facilitates biometric registration of foreign workers after they receive a Certificate of Competency in Construction Skills (SKKP) certified by CIDB, while also holistically monitoring their welfare, including the management of accommodation, through a streamlined, integrated approach. Aligned with the government’s enforcement plans, the system mandates Certification in the Source Country (SKKP) and completion of the online Safety and Health Induction Course for Construction Workers (eSICW) starting January 2025.
This initiative aims to address the issue of uncertified foreign workers, reduce safety risks, and improve legal compliance on construction sites. Also present at the ceremony were Dr. Zaliha binti Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), and Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahman Bin Mohamad, Deputy Minister of Human Resources.
The CIDBH iENTRY System is expected to ensure more effective monitoring of the foreign workforce, enhance worker safety, and support the sustainable development of Malaysia’s construction sector.
